Peas in the Nose

We had peas for dinner Wednesday night.  Mac enjoyed a nice meal outside on the patio with his buddy, Molly.

After dinner we noticed that he had a pea in his nose.  He was able to blow it out.  We proceeded with bedtime & everyone slept well.

The next morning I was getting him ready for daycare & I noticed a blockage in his nose… way up there.  I honestly thought he was getting a cold & had him blow his nose again & again with no success.  After a few attempts, it clicked with me that it wasn’t congestion.  That greenish blockage way up high was another PEA from Wednesday’s dinner!  I panicked.  I tried everything – tweezers, massaged the bridge of his nose, even turned him upside down, hoping gravity would help me out.

Finally after what seemed like an hour, my mom adrenaline kicked in & I remembered from my 1992 YMCA safe sitter class that when there is a nasal blockage (Wednesday night’s peas, marble, bean, etc.) you plug the good/unblocked nostril with your hand & then put your mouth over the child’s mouth & blow.  The pea shot out like a rocket.  And Mac laughed.

That’s my boy!
