I love turnips!

You don’t hear that very often, huh?  It’s not that people dislike turnips… it’s that most people have never had one!  That’s silly because this root veggie not only tastes great, but it’s full of guilt-free nutrition too!

1 cup of turnips has LESS than 60 calories & only 1 gram of fat.  Plus, you’re talking just 2g of natural sugar, 8g of carbohydrates, 5g of dietary fiber & 5g of protein!  Turnips are also full of vitamins & minerals – notably, Vitamins A, C & K.  And let’s not forget the fact that they are ALWAYS very affordable.  Eat more turnips.  Have more money for shoes. 🙂

I’m always watching my carbs, yet craving starchy foods.  It’s annoying, but just 1 of the reasons turnips are an easy favorite & a Produce Mom Pick!  If you are diabetic, a paleo diet disciple, or maybe just someone who is super mindful of what you eat– you get it.  This root vegetable rocks!!!!

  1. Good country eating they are. Home grown. I used the olive oil put 1 package onion soup mix. Plus my favorite seasoning. Hush your mouth good.

  2. Delicious! I followed the recipe, with the exception of adding two chopped carrots to six turnips.
No bitterness ~ savory and great flavor. So glad I found this recipe! It will be a routine dish in our house. Thank you!

  3. Making roasted turnips today tho the calories from the oil makes me nervous so I’m going to spray them with Pam olive oil cooking spray and see how that works cutting the oil calories.
